Artistry in Grain, Perfected Over Fifty Years.
About David Termini
With over 50 years of experience at the workbench, David Termini is a master woodworker whose career has been defined by a deep respect for the craft. As part of the legacy of Termini Furniture Service—a family business with a 100-year tradition of excellence—David spent decades mastering the art of furniture restoration, specialized coloring techniques, and woodturning.
From Furniture to Fine Art
Now transitioned from full-time restoration to his life as a "wood artist," David uses his retirement to explore the soulful side of the medium. While he remains a highly regarded bowl turner known for his vibrant dye-staining techniques, his current creative passion is centered on a more intimate form: The Handcrafted Wood Heart.
The Heart of the Craft
David’s wooden hearts are more than just decorative objects; they are designed to be held. Utilizing premium woods like solid curly maple, each heart is meticulously shaped with continuous, "roller coaster" curves and finished through an exhaustive multi-step process.
By sanding through various grits and applying layers of vinyl sealer and high-gloss lacquer, David achieves a glass-like finish that is exceptionally smooth to the touch. These pieces serve as a bridge between his technical expertise and his desire to create art that offers comfort, beauty, and a tangible connection to the natural world.
Whether through a massive hand-turned bowl or a small, polished heart, David’s work continues to be a testament to a lifetime spent perfecting the touch of tool to wood.
